Interfacial Microstructure and Properties of Clad Rebar Prepared by Clean-Interface Assembly and Vacuum Hot-Rolling

Stainless steel cladded rebars were successfully prepared by clean-interface assembly and vacuum hot-rolling process. The interfacial microstructure properties of the clad investigated scanning electron microscope (SVM), transmission (TEM), probe X-ray microanalyser (EPMA). results demonstrated that owing to diffusion carbon, decarburised (roughly 50 μm) composite zones 60 formed on each side interface. decarburized zone features a single ferrite texture, hence, relatively low micro-hardness 138HV while, due large amount martensite within it, has high 218HV. salt spray test showed corrosion rate is close round stainless bars, approximately one-tenth carbon rebars. In addition, layered multipass welding process was used produce cladding joint, which determined have tensile strength greater than standard value parent material excellent resistance.
